Barça B's record against Real Madrid Castilla at the Miniestadi
The the 17 matched between the two teams in Barcelona, the Blaugrana have won eight, tied four and lost five
This Sunday the Miniestadi will host the one of the most anticipated matches of the Liga Adelante, and the most awaited game by the reserve teams of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid: The Miniclásico.
The Real Madrid reserve team have visited the Miniestadi on 17 occasions, of these they’ve lost eight to the Blaugrana, tied four and won five. The first match between the two sides, played at Fabra i Coats Stadium – Barça B started playing home games at the Mini in 1982–, was in the 1974/75 season in the Cup. Barça B defeated Real Madrid Castilla by 2-0 thanks to goals from ‘Tente’ Sánchez and Durán. Barça B went on to the next round even though they lost the second leg by 3 to 2.
The thrilling matches of the 90s
Years later, in 1994, Barça B thumped Castilla by 4-1 thanks to a brace from Jordi Cruyff and goals from Luis Cembranos and Celades. But if you were to ask a Barça fan to recall his favourite clash between the two teams, he’d likely say the 5-0 victory during the promotion play-off for a spot in Segunda División in the 1997/98 season. Barça B, with Xavi, Puyol, Gabri, Luis García and Francesc Arnau on the team's roster, thrashed Miguel Ángel Portugal’s Real Madrid Castilla.
